Shiatsu Massage

The Shiatsu massage technique refers to the use of fingers and palms to apply pressure to various points of the body. Shiatsu is sometimes referred to as acupressure or trigger point massage.  By massaging various pressure points of the body, a shiatsu massage therapist can achieved the desired goal whether it be relaxation or pain management. 

Shiatsu massage can be applied in various positions.  A therapist may make use of a seated massage chair, a portable massage table, or even a mat or futon.  Employees generally consult with the therapist before the treatment to discuss possible problem areas to be addressed. 

Employees are fully clothed during the massage. The amount of pressure applied by the therapist and the areas treated is totally up to the employee.  The therapist will ask that the employee notify them if any part of the massage is uncomfortable.  The length of the massage is generally pre-determined by the organizer.  The equipment used is wiped clean after each massage.
