Glaucoma
Glaucoma Screenings Glaucoma screenings test the intraocular pressure (fluid pressure inside the eye), to determine if an employee has an elevated level of pressure. There is no set threshold that causes glaucoma. However, if an employee has a higher level of intraocular pressure, an optometrist or technician may recommend further screenings. A technician or optometrist uses a tonometry device to measure intraocular pressure. The device will send a small puff of air into the eye of an employee and measure the resistance. The test is painless and takes less than a minute. The test does NOT determine if an employee has glaucoma. It simply determines if an employee may have an elevated level of intraocular pressure.
