Postural Analysis (Ergonomics)

Posture exams analyze an employee's posture in the standing and/or sitting position.  Often times employees associate posture analysis with office ergonomics (how a company designs a workspace and environment to maximize efficiency).  Proper posture and comfort, whether sitting at a desk or standing behind a counter, is certainly a part of office ergonomics.   

Physical Therapists or Chiropractors can analyze posture in many different ways.  Some can do it simply viewing the employee standing and sitting in various positions.  Others use a SAM (Spinal Analysis Machine).  This is a network of strings and scales that are lined up with various points of an employees body.  An expert can evaluate things such as whether an employees shoulders are uneven because the string running along his/her shoulder line will not be level.

Still another step up is a computerized postural analysis.  This is where the expert takes a frontal and profile picture of the employee and loads into a computer program.  The expert can then draw lines between various points on the body and the program will determine how many degrees out of line an employees body is.  Regardless of the technique, all three exams are painless and non intrusive and take less than 5 minutes.
