Pulmonary
Pulmonary Screenings (Spirometry) Spirometry, or the measuring of lung capacity, is the most common of the Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), measuring the amount (volume) and/or speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled and exhaled. It is important in assessing conditions such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and other pulmonary diseases. The test is conducted using a device called a spirometer. An individual is asked to take the deepest breath they can and then exhale into the spirometer’s sensor as hard as possible for as long as possible. The test is painless and non intrusive and results are produced immediately. The results will be explain to the employee using the chart below:
